Oh good grief-
You guys can only imagine the HELL that has been Raquel's World for a week or so. So much hell I could not even blog. Let's see where do I start?
I have been SICK, SICK, SICK...I had a round of strep-throat, a touch of the flu, and a headache for 3 days, and now I believe I have Thrush...WTF!!!
If you recall our job laid off the majority of our staff and we are now down to a VERY small crew. As usual when I warned my boss this was not the way to handle it because flu season was coming and one of our 4 staff members was also moving, cutting back so severely would leave us destitute in the event anyone or one of our 20 kids (we all have 4 or more kids each) became ill. No one listened and we all became ill around the same time the one staff member was moving and it is also our busiest time. So my week was a mixture of calling out sick and feeling guilty for the staff that was stuck, and dragging my ass in sick-as-a-dog and getting stuck working by myself. Uggghhhh. It was not good and since I could not take more than a day off at a time I never fully recovered. In addition to that it was a very busy week at our job so, not good, not good. I am still not well. I cough as if I smoke 5 packs of Marlboro Reds an hour, and you do not even wanna know the things I have coughed up this week. Or do you? I would love to tell you but it could very well be TMI.
Okay add to that the fact that in my home/personal life I am having DRAMA! Drama. Drama. Drama!!! It all has been just too damn much to bear. I'll save that for another post. On top of that we had out of town guests for 3 days and on top of that my insurance canceled, for no good reason. Actually looks like they made a mistake, shocking huh? So I am currently mid battle with my insurance company.
I had a new lovely staff member due to start last week to save our sinking ship and I was so excited we would all be able to get a sigh of relief but to my horror she emailed the night before she was due to start and said she had a better offer and would not be coming. Oh good lord.. I could go on and on, trust me this is all the PG version of life lately but, I'm back. In a zombie state no less but back so hopefully I will get back in the swing of things and get some posts up this week. I have some really good stuff to share.
Anyhoo,, that's whats been up with me. I guess I'll get to reading and see what's been up with you all. Oh and by the way if anyone knows any good home remedies for thrush please let me know. I am already taking acidophilus pills and eating yogurt.
A humorous, opinionated yet insightful view on life, teenagers, kids, working. Here I share some of my day to day interactions and trust me its not as boring as it sounds. Check it out!

I'm Tryna Sit This One Out
Seriously? EVERYONE is SICK. EVERYONE!
I heard the whispers, I heard the coughs, I saw them....the sick they are everywhere. I kept my pumpkins homebound just to avoid this because I hear it's really nasty. I pick up princess and half the kids have green snotty noses. Yuck!
She got it first. A few bed bound days, many a cough, tons of snot, a day of fever, and yesterday diarrhea. I kept my distance and put RA on the job. He after all has insurance and I do not. Day 5 of princesses sickness and Mason awoke with the seal-bark-cough. Moms will know this to be croup. He insisted on going to school, he only had the cough so I let him go he returned home and passed out and slept two days with a slight fever, now he too has snot, diarrhea and many other endearing symptoms.Yesterday at work all the kids were sick, so of course I was a hand washing, sanitizing machine.
I DO NOT want this illness. I do not deserve it. Come on, haven't I had a bad enough time with my health lately? Cut me a break will ya? I am dodging sickness like a running back (I think that is the right position for this, I'm still learning football)
All the blogs are full of sick people, my friends and their kids are all sick, my sister's sick and they all say its just awful. I even saw it on the news that our area urgent care and emergency facilities are overrun with people with this snotty, diarrhea virus all looking for relief. They said this general virus can last 6 weeks. 6 weeks! I cannot be sick for 6 weeks! They also said don't waste your money going to a doctor because they cannot give you anything for this. It's a run-its-course kinda deal. So I'ma go hide under my desk with my Lysol spray and hand sanitizer for now...but I know Ima get it. I just know it.

Final Chapter- Could Be Worms
So I awoke to breakfast in bed compliments the RA. Pancakes, bacon, cream of wheat, scrambled cheese eggs, warm pure maple syrup. Made me wonder if the doggy was out back. I ate my breakfast then went on a check to make sure the dog wasn't stashed somewhere. I also noticed since yesterday that my son and daughter were sick. No fever but my son stayed in bed most of the weekend and anyone with a 9 year old boy knows that that is a sure sign something ain't right. My daughter was also saying she didn't feel good. After sharing this with one of my girlfriends she told me that kids can catch worms from a dog and it can be very serious. So in typical Roc (me) fashion. I was certain my kids all had worms. I got online again because remember I am online doctor...

and discovered that yes they could catch worms and it was serious. I got off the Internet and explained to RA that thanks to him the kids were all infested with worms and would probably die. Oh I went on and on and like usual he just tuned me out. I certainly did not feel that I should miss work because of his stupid ideas so I made my sickest son an appointment for Monday morning and told RA he would have to take him in.
For the remainder of the day RA was quite helpful. he cleaned, did laundry, cooked a lavish dinner of BBQ chicken, corn on the cob and some potatoeish dish that he created. he also baked a cake. I was hopeful that he was sorry about this crap and was trying to make it up. And to really push it, I hauled ass outta there. I decided since he is rarely around cooking and kid watching I would use the time to undue my stress and go tanning and shopping, which I did.
The next morning RA called me after my sons appointment and I braced myself for the bad news.
"How long does he have?" I asked.
"Until what?" said RA.
"You know, the end" I said.
"Roc, the boy doesn't have worms."
"Well then what does he have?"
"a cold" he replied.
"Oh, well gotta go".
