Wish Me Luck!

I decided today, yesterday actually that I am tired of life sucking. Tired of being stressed out, or broke or stressed out about being broke. So I have contacted our local university to see what my options are. I have only a high school education but have had quite a few "degree required" jobs. I was an area supervisor for a start up company that grew to 8 locations before being sold. Great money and great job! I was a project manager for a small construction company and have been a daycare director. It's definitely not what you know but who I knew that enabled me to get these positions but I excelled at each of them. However, I am now back at a dead end hourly job and not even making ends meet and as I have stated before this job is a new business so who even knows if it will last. I am a single mom of 4 and work full-time but I love learning, being challenged, and success so here I go. I am gonna try to go to college... god help me! I had started this process before a couple years ago but backed out because of family obligations. So I'm gonna try again. Wish me luck. I'll keep you posted!

  3. Good luck. I loved college and the friends I made there were...more real and genuine than anyone I grew up with. Oh, and the learning helped me get a better job.

    Nothing ever worthwile is easy.
Which basically sucks but you can do this.

I wish you could tell me how nephew how hard this is with only a high school ed because he is not going forward in his education. He got a hourly job and thinks he is making $$. Wait until his parents tell him to move out. that ought to wake him up.

  6. Thanks to all for your support. Now let's hope I'm not blogging about why I didn't go through with it in a couple months.

PEG- Oh I wish I could tell him too. They say $$ is not important but try telling that to the utility companies or daycare or anyone else for that matter. I wish we could have our older age wisdom in our youth. I hope your nephew gets it together.

  7. Hi Raquel, I'm new here, just wanted to encourage you to do it if you can. I'm sure being a single mom of four it will be very challenging at times. If you can find a program that you can do online that would probably help. Even a few classes would be a sense of accomplishment. Good luck!
